Cork based group Ceolta Sí performing Irish traditional music, song and dance shows in Youghal, Ireland.

Ceolta Sí are the performing group of the Youghal branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in east Cork.

Youghal CCÉ is 25 years old. Now based in the new, purpose built Brú na Sí centre, the branch is active throughout the year. Classes are provided in a range of instruments including button accordion, tin whistle, flute, fiddle, concertina, banjo and mandolin. The performing group, Ceolta Sí, performs regularly at the centre. Ceolta Sí have also performed extensively around the world. More recently younger groups, Lár na Cruinne and Draíocht an Oileáin, were founded and they have also performed at a variety of events and concerts. For the winter, Brú na Sí will host a monthly concert/workshop series.

Civic Reception marks new stage of development for Comhaltas in Youghal

On Thursday night, 3rd July, a special event was hosted by Youghal Town Council for the launch of a number of activities and developments planned by Craobh Eochaille CCÉ for the coming months. It is hoped that these developments will benefit the town and the surrounding areas in the present and long into the future. The plans include an ambitious building programme, as well as a performance and training schedule that will continue to promote Irish traditional music and profile Youghal around the world.

A celebration of song at Brú na Sí

On Wednesday 18th June, noted singer Seán Ó Sé and American professor Matthew Allen will perform an intimate concert at Brú na Sí in Youghal. Cork native Seán Ó Sé rose to fame during his time with Seán Ó Riada’s group Ceoltóirí Cualann. He is best known for his rendition of the song ‘An poc ar buille’. Seán has appeared on a number of albums and in recent years has toured with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.
